The Mines
Exploit coal veins, discover mine caves, drill deep into the Fire Field depths for exclusive rewards.
The Mines is a feature introduced in version v2.24.0. It can be unlocked by purchasing the Unlock Mines upgrade in the Coal Shop for 5k (5e3) Coal Leaves.
Coal Veins
Every 60 seconds, uncover a Coal Vein which gets an assigned rarity ranging from Common to Legendary. When mining a Coal Vein, obtain random rewards. The higher the rarity, the better the rewards (the rewards are mostly Coal Bars however). Every Coal Vein has a cap on the amount of times it can be mined. After reaching the cap, the Coal Vein becomes useless and will need to be removed. Coal Bars can be used for upgrading the global efficiency of all Coal Veins (yielding better rewards, and unlocking more reward options), Enhancing[1] individual Coal Veins' Quality (yielding better Mining rewards, stacks up to 100% quality and increasing by 20% with every enhancement), searching for Mines (more on Mines below), and for Transmuting into Coal Diamonds (more on Transmutation below).
At Coal Veins level 5, gain an additional small chance of obtaining Coal Diamonds from mining.
At Coal Veins level 15, gain an ever smaller chance of obtaining Shiny Diamonds from mining.
- ↑ Requires the Enhance upgrade from the Mines Shop.
Transmutation
Transmute (AKA convert) resources to other resources. It is also possible to Transmute back resources, gaining half the amount of the original resource used. A list of all Transmutation options and the resources' use:
Coal Diamonds are used for purchasing upgrades in the Mines Shop (full Mines Shop below), as well as for crafting Rare and below Items in the inventory (more on Items below).
Shiny Diamonds are used for purchasing upgrades in the Mines Shop (full Mines Shop below), as well as for ascending Items and crafting Epic and above Items in the inventory (more on Items below).
Fuel is used for fueling (activating) the Depth Drill, allowing you to go deeper and gain more bonuses (more on the Depth Drill below).
Coal Time Spheres can be used for skipping 30 seconds of Depth Drill progress (42 seconds using the upgrades from the Mines Shop).
Mines & Items
Every 10 minutes, search for a Mine, which consists of 6 caves (can be increased through upgrades in the Mines shop). Mines get an assigned rarity ranging from Common to Legendary, similar to Coal Veins. When mining a Cave, a timer will start, which at the end of it, you will obtain rewards ranging from Coal Bars, to random resources like Dice and Curses . These rewards are very insignificant compared to their primary method of acquisition. However, Mines also have a chance of rewarding Items, which buff many aspects/stats of the game by an extremely significant amount. Items can additionally be crafted using Coal Diamonds, however they first need to be obtained in order to craft them.
Additionally, after purchasing the Drill Mines upgrade in the Mines Shop, it is possible to drill a whole mine for rewards. The base rewards provide only Coal Bars, however, with the Worthwhile Drill and the Super Worthwhile Drill upgrades from the Mines Shop, it is possible to additionally get Coal Diamonds and Shiny Diamonds from drilling, depending on the level and rarity. Drilling caves depletes them, however, caves cannot be depleted past 99%. Instead, they simply provide low rewards.
A List of All Items and Their Base Bonuses:
Items’ bonuses scale based on the Depth drilled using the Depth Drill. The equation for bonus scaling is .
Additionally, items' rarity can be ascended using Shiny Diamonds. The amount of duplicate items in the inventory increases the bonus of the item, similar to Borbventures. The amount of possible items held in the inventory can be increased using upgrades from the Mines Shop (see more below).
Depth Drill
The Depth Drill can be unlocked for 750 Coal Diamonds in the Mines Shop. By adding Fuel to the Depth Drill, the Drill passively mines deeper and deeper, granting unique Bonuses in the process. Additionally, Coal Time Spheres can be used to skip 30 seconds (or 42 seconds with the Mines Shop upgrades) of drilling instantly. You can get free Fuel for the Depth Drill every 30 Minutes, and can also use 50 Coal Diamonds to Transmute to it.

Mines Shop
Most, if not all aspects of The Mines can be upgraded in the Mines Shop. Upgrades cost Coal Diamonds except the Super Worthwhile Drill upgrade, which costs Shiny Diamonds.
Strategy
This is not an exhaustive guide, so not everything will be covered. The specific order in which you should buy upgrades from the shop is not mentioned, just the broad ideas about it, as well as certain less important sections of The Mines being relatively ignored.
Gem Shop Upgrades
Both Auto upgrades are insanely good, and are basically essential. You'll want to turn on all the toggles from the Auto upgrades, besides Auto Drill in the Mines section.
Maxing out the Vein Exploits upgrade is also very important, as well as getting at least 2 upgrades for Multi Mining. The Better Pickaxe upgrade has limited use and will not be of much importance for now.
Starting Out (Part 1)
All the Coal Vein upgrades are by far the most important upgrades to start with. You want to upgrade the Coal Vein level and get as many upgrades for Coal Veins in the shop as you can, by just upgrading whatever is cheapest. The first upgrade you should get is the Enhance upgrade, which is extremely important, as enhancing Coal Veins is essentially always worth it and it would not be a misplay to enhance every single Coal Vein to 100% quality, no matter what. You can continue doing this until you have gotten a decent amount of Coal Diamond income. Once you can afford to get the Depth Drill relatively quickly (X min or less), you should get that and start collecting the free Fuel that it gives you. You want to Transmute this Fuel into Coal Diamonds, as it is not worth it to use this Fuel to drill just yet. Each Fuel Transmutation will provide 500 Coal Diamonds, which pays itself off in 30 minutes (because you get the first set of free Fuel immediately after getting the upgrade). Continue on the path of upgrading shop and increasing the Coal Vein level until you get to Coal Vein level 16, with the More Coal Veins, Vein Exploit and Vein Discovery upgrades all maxed. At this point you should get the Item Shelf upgrade maxed, and the Item Backpack upgrade to 10/20 relatively easily. You will likely also want to upgrade Refuel Exploit during this time, while just stockpiling Fuel to either save for later when you can make better use of it, or to transmute it for Coal Diamonds to make more progress in the short term. You should also be working on getting the cheap upgrades for Mines, because Mines are the only way to unlock items which become very important later on.
More Mines (Part 2)
Now that you’re at Coal Vein level 16, you can start crafting items. The most important items are Drill (first and foremost), then Blossom, and then Death Book, Battle Die, Relic, Leaf Blower and Trout. You only want to craft Common-Rare versions of these items, because the Epic+ rarities require Shiny Diamonds to craft and are thus become very expensive. This is also where the Depth Drill starts to become important, and thus you should focus on getting the upgrades for it up to a good level and starting it up (activating it). The Depth Drill provides a large amount of bonuses, all of which are important, and items scale infinitely with its depth, so it is always good to get more (which is also why the Drill is the most important item to get). For the list of Depth Drill bonuses, see Depth Drill section above. Since you are now at Coal Vein level 15 or above, you are able to get Shiny Diamonds Coal Veins now which are very powerful, although also very rare (1/400). Once you get one, you should transmute all the obtained Shiny Diamonds into Coal Diamonds in order to get a large amount of progress done with Coal Vein level and shop upgrades. Continue doing this until you get to Coal Vein level 31, at which point upgrading Coal Veins start to cost Shiny Diamonds. You can and should be upgrading the Mines upgrades as you see fit, making sure that it remains relatively cheap compared to the more important upgrades like Vein Serendipity and Coal Vein level. Mines are relatively important at this point as they have a chance to provide Mythic or Legendary items, which will save a large amount of Shiny Diamonds. You should continue to upgrade the Coal Vein level up until level 35, after which you can make the switch to getting your items maxed using Shiny Diamonds. You should be crafting Epic+ items now (again Drill first and foremost, while also situationally Transmuting Shiny Diamonds into Coal Diamonds to get more levels of the Item Backpack upgrade). If you have not acquired the high rarity items from the Mines yet, you can either wait until you get one from the Mines or choose to ascend them. Ascending them is expensive, but there is no guarantee you'll get a high rarity useful item in any reasonable amount of time, so it's a viable option to counter bad RNG. Ascending is safer and probably better, but its ultimately up to personal opinion. Once you get the useful items capped (for your Depth) up to Legendary rarity, you should start pushing to a higher Coal Vein level. This is also roughly the point where you want to get the Super Worthwhile Drill upgrade, as once you have 4 Epic level 10 Mines (which is the best because once Mines get depleted they only give 1 Shiny Diamond per, no matter what level they are) it pays off faster than having Coal Vein level 39 (make sure that you lock these Mines, as they will get removed once they get to 99% depletion otherwise, and you still want them at that point). During this time you should also have Depth Drill running at all times, Transmuting Coal Diamonds into Fuel as it's needed to keep it running, with the upgrades for it maxed as well.
Late Mines (Part 3)
Once you get to Coal Vein level 45, you are going to want to start getting more depth using the Depth Drill. You should Transmute Coal Diamonds and Shiny Diamonds into Coal Time Spheres (having already maxed the Better Spheres upgrade). You will get 42 seconds of drilling per Coal Time Sphere. This is less resource efficient than Fuel, so keeping Fuel running 24/7 is the first focus, but that should be relatively easy by now. You are going to want to push to roughly 10m (1e7) meters of depth at this point. This will give you some large Depth Drill bonuses which will make the progress throughout the rest of the game much easier and better. After you get to this point, you’re should move back to upgrading Coal Vein levels with your Shiny Diamonds. Although Coal Vein levels take longer to pay off the higher level you are, there is no specific stopping point as they will always pay off eventually so its always better to upgrade them. However, if you do not want to go to Coal Vein level 100 (the max level), stopping at level 80 is a good enough point. Level 80 is where the upgrades start to take a truly long time to pay off. You should be using Shiny Diamonds to upgrade Coal Vein levels, Coal Diamonds to Transmute to Fuel and use Coal Time Spheres to make more progress in the Depth Drill.
TL;DR
You want to upgrade Coal Vein levels and Coal Vein upgrades evenly in cost with Mines upgrades a step behind in cost, and repeat until Coal Vein level 15.
- At Coal Vein level 15, buy all the useful items ( Drill first), and then repeat the above (here is where you should be keeping the Depth Drill drilling running 24/7, via Transmutations).
- At Coal Vein level 35, get all useful items at Epic+ rarities and keep buying Coal Vein levels.
- At Coal Vein level 45, Transmute everything into Fuel and Coal Time Spheres, pushing to 10m (1e7) depth.
Afterwards you should be using Shiny Diamonds to upgrade Coal Vein levels, Coal Diamonds to Transmute to Fuel and use Coal Time Spheres to make more progress in the Depth Drill.
